Here are some pointers and tools you need to make your smile photo-ready.

How Old Is Your Toothbrush?

The first tool you need to make sure you have is a good toothbrush. First, you need to ask yourself how old your toothbrush is. Many people think they only need to change their toothbrushes when their dentist gives them a new one. However, the American Dental Association recommends that you change your toothbrushes every three months to keep their bristles in good shape and also to avoid bacteria build-up on the toothbrush. You may think that rinsing your toothbrush after each brushing is enough, but germs build up on your toothbrush over time.

You Need The Right Toothpaste

After you make sure your toothbrush is in great shape, the next step is to think about toothpaste. You need to base your decision on toothpaste according to what you want to focus on. For example, if you are concerned about your gum health, you should focus on a toothpaste that focuses on preventing gum disease. If you want whiter teeth or fresher breath, look for whitening or breath-freshening toothpaste.

Floss

Many adults do not like to floss, but it is essential for good tooth and gum health. If you hate to use string floss, you may want to find flossers, which are portable, handheld plastic pieces with a thin string of floss. They are easier to hold and use than traditional string floss. Many dental companies also have mechanical flossers, which are even easier to use. Mechanical flossers can be recharged and use air or water to floss your teeth and gums.

Now that you have all of the tools you need, you are ready to begin the year with a marvelous new smile. If your smile is not as picture-perfect as you want, why not reach out to our office and let us make you an appointment?
